2024 Investments

The best investment opportunity at the moment is in the U.S. real estate market.

For those who are seeking and evaluating what to invest into in 2024, the new year begins with a set of stable points in an economic-financial context that’s less uncertain than in 2023:

  • inflation – although still high, is declining in both the United States and Europe, as well as in most Latin American countries
  • the rush to increase rates by the FED and the ECB seems to have come to an end
  • Rates will remain high for a while until inflation is tamed
  • The first rate cut by the FED is not expected before the second half of the year, favoring certain investments in 2024.

Some of these trends and considerations offer those evaluating their 2024 investments an “operational” reading key to analyze the data and calculations released by the real estate agency Redfin Corp on the U.S. real estate market.

U.S. Real Estate Market and 2024 Investments

Due to mortgage interest rates in the USA now ranging between 7% and 8%, Americans must earn more than ever to buy a home in the United States. The agency has calculated an annual income of $114,000, well above the $70,000 average income of citizens calculated by the Federal Reserve.

Redfin Corp’s calculation takes into account the classic formula with a 20% down payment, a 30-year mortgage, and about 30% of one’s annual income to be allocated to housing expenses.

What does this mean for an investor looking for the best investment in 2024?

Redfin’s picture sounds like a clear invitation to invest for some profiles:

  • Non-U.S. investors who can take advantage of the moment to secure a lifetime income in dollars.
  • Those with between $70,000 and $160,000 to invest in the USA.
  • Those who do not need to resort to mortgages or other types of financing.

These investors can make excellent investments in 2024 through the U.S. real estate market. With most U.S. citizens unable to afford buying property and needing to rent, investors can buy one and put it to income use, renting it to U.S. worker families. This immediately ensures investors net returns from 6% to 10%, capable of beating inflation and protecting the invested capital.

Moreover, when the rate cut begins – whether the forecasts are met or whether it occurs sooner or later – the growing number of people in the United States who can afford to buy a home will create pressure on transactions, which are currently quite low. This pressure will drive up property prices, offering significant capital gains to those who made this 2024 investment.
