OPISAS RE Insight: The independent financial advisor and the real estate market

On December the 2nd, OPISAS participated in the Fee Only Summit, the greatest event dedicated to Independent Financial Counseling.

The brief video* above reports the highlights of our interview.

Daniele Cosulich, Investor Relations Director for OPISAS FOA, and Boris Pizzolitto, Sales Manager for Europe, after a short introduction about the OPISAS world, presented the survey result:

“Fee-only Financial Advisors and the Real Estate market. Housing is the top investment for Italians, but Italy is not enough.”

The survey targeted independent financial advisors; 64% of respondents stated that their clients invested from 41% to 90% of their portfolios in the real estate obtaining, however, underperforming net returns (less than 3%). This happens for the reason mentioned before i.e., Italy is not enough.

The data confirms more and more that the Italian real estate market is not sufficient. In Italy, the house as an investment may become an illiquid asset.

This is just one of the arguments in favor of real estate investments in foreign markets, with a focus on the USA.
