In 2011Opisas predicts that Tunisia will get the recognition it deserves!  Already being able to boast quality accommodation, pristine sandy beaches, top class golf courses and a culture rich in history.  It can now boast another state of the art International Airport. 

The ENFIDHA ZINE EL ABIDINE BEN ALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (NBE) is described by its designer as a world-class facility that will cover 4,300H in area and is originally designed for a capacity of 5 million passengers annually. Four future phases of expansion are included in the Master Plan. By 2035, the airport is expected to be able to accommodate up to 22 million passengers each year. The airport, at its first stage, opened in November 2009. See photographs below.

This modern facility aims to accommodate the millions of tourists visiting the region of Hergla, Nabeul, Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir and Mahdia every year. This project is the first airport privately built and operated in the Maghreb region. This airport site is located between two major tourist areas: Nabeul–Hammamet-Hergla and Monastir-Sousse-Mahdia. These regions currently accounting for nearly 65% of the national tourism capacity.

Amongst others, Thomsonfly have already announced that the choice of regional flights to Tunisia for 2011 will be increased. Direct flights are scheduled to start from May 2011 with other low cost carries expected to follow suit shortly after. So customers in the UK will be able to fly from Bournemouth, Cardiff, Glasgow and Stansted directly into Enfidha as well as the existing airports on offer, making the country more accessible to people up and down the country.  

Capitalising on the location of this state of the art airport. Opisas have identified the nearby town of Hergla and its latest off-plan development ‘Hergla Diamond’ to be one of the major benefactors from the increase in tourism the airport will inevitably bring.  The increase will not only help property prices and potential capital appreciation, but will ultimately lead to an increase in the need for high specification rental accommodation.

Being only a 15kms away from Enfidha, Hergla Diamond with its innovative design, is clearly the stand out project currently available for purchase in the new airports vicinity.
