For many Sardinia means sea, but for many also it is forests. The forests found in Sardinia collectively are of extraordinary natural value, environmentally, historically and economically resulting from secular interaction between man and nature. The landscape of mountain forests deserves a respectful and sustainable use: the only way that future generations will also benefit from them. The National Forests Commission wishes to promote visitors to some of the most beautiful state forests found in Sardinia and will be organising this year's nine special weekends. ‘Open Forest’, the name of the initiative, wants to draw attention to the sustainable use of forests, both for the local population and tourists alike.
The message of the event is already inherent in the name: "open" to free resources and energy, to open new frontiers through innovative and unusual use of an area rich in natural ability, easily accessible but often leading to improper use and perceived as less accessible or too "far". The planned activities are different from the activities of environmental education for children, the course and nature photography contest, exhibitions, sales and tastings of typical products, services and cultural excursions (book presentations, environmental education, nature walks, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding).
Sardinia is therefore synonymous with natural interest, an island that offers many activities, excursions, explorations, numerous cultural and archaeological sites, botanical gardens and much much more.
Maybe it's because Sardinia escapes any attempt at description that OPISAS endeavors to present a selection of property opportunities there not to be missed.
